Ólafur Arnalds teams with Hollywood composer Atli Örvarsson for new song "Öldurót"
Ólafur Arnalds has teamed up with Hollywood composer Atli Örvarsson for "Öldurót", the fourth instalment of his Island Songs project.
Island Songs takes Arnalds across seven different locations in his native Iceland over seven weeks - he's creating a different composition inspired by each location, and collaborating with a local artist. This latest song follows "Árbakkinn" with poet Einar Georg, "1995" with Dagný Arnalds, and "Raddir" with the South Iceland Chamber Choir.
This week Arnalds has been to the northern city of Akureyri to work with Örvarsson, a film composer who's worked on the Pirates of the Caribbean series, Angels & Demons, Vantage Point, Babylon A.D., The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, and more. He also worked with Hans Zimmer on the Man Of Steel
