NoMBe drops new track “California Girls”
Noah McBeth, a.k.a. NoMBe, is a classically trained pianist-turned-producer. His newest offering “California Girls” sees him making use of wide range of dynamics to lament the shallowness of his adopted home state.
Things start slow, with a simple guitar riff and a mellow beat. McBeth’s smooth vocal is soaked in reverb for the chilliest possible effect. While the message might be vitriolic, the track makes for some soulful and easy listening. That is, until a splash of heavy bass introduces some intensity and dissonance in the last 30 seconds.
Needless to say, NoMBe is a California transplant with a familiar complaint.
“’California Girls’ is inspired by true events I've had dating out here in LA,” he said. The track tells of “being let down by someone who is to caught up in the carefree cliché/ideal of a 'Hollywood lifestyle'".
