Nilüfer Yanya announces debut album with electrifying new single "In Your Head"
London's Nilüfer Yanya has announced her debut record Miss Universe alongside the punchy lead single "In Your Head".
Following on from last year's "Heavyweight Champion Of The World", 23-year-old Nilüfer Yanya has kicked off her new year with news of her debut album.
To announce her first album, the hotly-tipped singer/songwriter has shared lead single "In Your Head". Explaining the track in more detail, Yanya offers, "Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me and I get trapped. There’s the things I need disguised as things I think I only want, things I think I’m choosing out of choice not necessity. Sometimes this only becomes clear in retrospect, or maybe it will never become clear. Some people may call that being paranoid. I think that’s what I wrote the song about, but what’s interesting to me, and what I think I was trying to get at, is the illusion of freedom."
Miss Universe features 17 tracks, and was largely recorded in a remote Penzance studio where she used to jam in with her uncle Joe. She's even recruited her old guitar teacher Dave Okumu (The Invisible's) as a co-producer alongside her live bandmates, and producers John Congleton, Oli Barton-Wood, Will Archer, and M.T. Hadley.
