Nile Rodgers talks working with David Guetta and possible Daft Punk tour
Nile Rodgers, the cancer-beating king of disco and legendary hit-making machine, has spoken about his enthusiasm for upcoming collaborations with the heavyweights of modern-day EDM.
On the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet, Rodgers told Billboard that he has been “working like crazy” since being involved with Daft Punk‘s Random Access Memories, and could only contribute to three songs on that record. Their video for new single ‘Lose Yourself To Dance’, also featuring Pharrell, is out now.
“It’s amazing, where we are right now with the record, it’s just extraordinary,” he said. Asked about the possibility that the Gallic duo would be staging more of their grand live shows at some point in the near future, he confirmed their own previous hints.
A jovial Rodgers said: “I’ll back them up on that. Something might happen.”
The guitarist and producer- who lent his Midas touch to landmark releases from Diana Ross, David Bowie and Madonna- revealed that he is working closely with Avicii, with whom he has cut “six records”; has recently finished two tracks with David Guetta; and that yet more “underground stuff” with German DJ Tensnake and British pair Chase and Status is in the pipeline.
“It’s a good year for me and dance music,” said Rodgers.
