Nicki Minaj airs new 16-minute short film The Pinkprint Movie
Nicki Minaj has unveiled a 16-minute short film to accompany her recent LP The Pinkprint. Rather ingeniously, it's titled The Pinkprint Movie.
Á la Kanye West's grandiose mini-saga for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, it's more like an interconnected series of music videos than an actual narrative-driven film (though there is a story), and works as a side dish to the full album's main course. However, it's still a complete visual spectacle with some interesting names attached.
It's directed by Taylor Cohen (Superhumanoids, Little Dragon) and Francesco Carrozzini (Beyoncé, Lana Del Rey), and has been executive produced by - among other people - visionary du jour Nabil.
It sees the characters' lives unfold beneath three of Minaj's tracks: "The Crying Game", "Grand Piano", and "I Lied". It stars Minaj, Willy Monfret, and Boris Kodjoe.
