A new report suggests that Apple will include playback support for FLAC audio in iOS 11 - meaning that you can play those lossless gems on your iPhone or iPad.
The Next Web note that some Reddit users, who have got their hands on a beta edition of the system, have dug around to find expanded functionality that looks set to be part of the upcoming file-management app, Files.
The format is a darnsight bulkier than the recently retired MP3, but many consider it a far better listening experience that retains much more of the original recording's quality - especially when compared to the other highly compressed formats, such as the MP3.
iOS 11 is due later this year.
