New Zealand's indi details debut album Precipice and airs mesmerising track "Tablelands"
New Zealand artist indi has shared spine-tingling single "Tablelands" and announced debut album Precipice.
"Tablelands" follows "Precipice" - a sprawling clash of sounds and emotions that brought indi to our attention back in March - and arrives with details of the multi-instrumentalist's first full-length.
This latest track strips back the luscious production of "Precipice", with sombre keys and synths cavorting beneath the intense vocals from indi. It touches on the icy realms of Samaris as it fizzes past, burning bright for just over two minutes before drifting into the ether.
"This project has probably been the hardest but most rewarding I've done so far," indi tells Happy Mag. "I had just come out of releasing the Doprah album in early 2016 and it had been a pretty big ordeal, with very high expectations and label disappointments that left us all emotionally drained by the end. Instead of giving myself time to rest I just went straight into this. I didn't intend for this album to be particularly ambitious but you can’t help what you write really and all of the songs needed orchestral instruments."
"I had no budget to work," indi continues. "It has been a process of compromising and being creative with what is at hand. It’s not the album I thought I would write - it's cinematic and strange."
indi has also shared a brief teaser trailer for the LP, which you can watch below.
