New York's Rough Trade to transform into Empire Records
In honour of Empire Records turning 20, Rough Trade in Williamsburg (NYC) will turn into a replica of the film's titular music shop.
The event will take place on 8 April - Rex Manning Day in the film, and essentially a national holiday to devotees - thanks to BBQ Films. Further events have been added on 9 and 10 April to keep up with demand.
Empire Records, originally released in 1995, quickly went on to become a cult favourite for a great many reasons, including its on-point soundtrack (featuring the likes of The Cranberries, Gin Blossoms and GWAR).
The Rough Trade celebrations include a showing of the film, a "head shaving station" (first five to be sheared drink free), a themed photobooth, a live performance by the Empire house band, as well as popcorn, posters, badges and an autograph from Rex Manning himself.
General admission costs $42, with some of the ticket price going to charity.
