New radio station to ONLY play British music by British musicians
Union Jack is a new radio station with a Brexit-friendly gimmick: it won't play anything created by people outside of Britain's borders.
Absolute Radio's co-founders have today launched the DJ-less national station, which features the voice of Blake's 7's Avon (Paul Darrow) - listen now, if you dare.
Aimed at "reluctant adults" aged 40-54, Union Jack will feature mostly the classics, whatever they may be, plus the brightest and best of British 'newcomers': Jake Bugg, Tom Odell, Biffy Clyro, and Richard Ashcroft. Listeners get to vote on what gets played next - this is a really great idea because the British public have an excellent track record when it comes to voting.
“We have conducted a huge amount of research and the feedback confirmed that there is a massive gap in the radio for a new national station that promotes the very best of British music,” said Donnach O’Driscoll, co-chief executive of Union Jack.
Union Jack is a member of the Jack FM family.
