London's getting a brand new, 5000-capacity venue located in a historic 16-acre site in the Docklands.
Printworks London is described as "a ground-breaking new multi-purpose, experimental venue" and is located in the former printing facility for the Metro and Evening Standard.
Although there are plans for gigs, all-dayers, and other sound-based shenanigans, music is the only thing on the menu - the venue's six different events spaces will feature food, film, arts, dance, fashion, "immersive theatre", festivals, and more. Apparently there are already plans for a mini jazz season, a classical music programme, markets, vintage fairs, food festivals, and car shows.
Printworks London will feature "a labyrinth of interconnecting corridors and rooms", plus two soundproofed Press Halls - they've apparently retained many of the original features.
Over the past few years the Printworks has hosted Secret Cinema events, Mulberry's Fashion Week, and was even used as a filming location for Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
As well as ticketed events there will be facilities for community use, including rehearsal rooms.
The first "in-house music events series" is announced on 1 December. If all goes to plan events will begin in January 2017.
The news comes hot on the heels of Fabric's reopening and the appointment of London's first-ever Night Czar - are we seeing a new chapter in the city's nightlife?
