Netflix is bringing back Top Boy and it's all thanks to Drake
Netflix have confirmed that they're bringing back acclaimed drama Top Boy after Drake got involved to resurrect the show.
After lots of rumours, Netflix have officially given the green light on 10 new episodes of Top Boy. The show will be back in 2019 with original writer Ronan Bennett, original director Yann Demange, and original cast members Ashley Walters and Kano all back on board.
Drake will be executive producing the show alongside DJ, manager, and business partner Adele 'Future The Prince' Nur.

A Netflix press release doesn't give lots away, but it does say that the show "picks up as Dushane (Walters) returns from exile to his home in London to reclaim his throne in the highly lucrative drug market. He teams up with Sully (Kane Robinson), his spiritual brother, partner, and sometime rival who is also returning to the same streets after his own form of exile - prison - comes to an end. Awaiting them both is Jamie, the young, hungry and ruthless gang leader whose ambitions leave no place for Dushane and Sully."
"That human element drew me in," says Drake of Top Boy in a new feature with The Hollywood Reporter about his film and TV career.

It's unknown if mega-fan Drake will physically star in the show - he apparently bagged himself a role earlier this summer after acquiring the rights to the show itself, but we'll have to wait to find out for sure. Mercury-winning MC Skepta is also rumoured to be involved behind the scenes.
The original run of Top Boy, an award-winning show about gangs and drug dealers in East London, was aired on Channel 4 between 2011 and 2013. Both original seasons are currently on Netflix.
