N*E*R*D unleash "Squeeze Me", their first new track in almost five years
Back in October, Pharrell dropped hints about the reformation of former collective N*E*R*D; finally they return, unleashing their first new noise since 2010's Nothing.
The track arrives as part of the soundtrack for upcoming film, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water, and it's called "Squeeze Me", a tropical-tinged ditty with plenty of kids cheering, calypso motifs and positivity.
Speaking to Variety, the band's Chad Hugo explains the track:
“We’re trying not to think too much in a cartoon sense but more just like a psychedelic, otherworldy type of thing. If you want to draw a parallel, maybe think of what the Beatles did with ‘Yellow Submarine.’”
