Nelly Furtado details new John Congleton-produced record The Ride
Canadian pop star Nelly Furtado takes a new path on "Pipe Dreams", the first single from upcoming LP The Ride.
The Ride will be Furtado's sixth studio record, and her first since 2012's The Spirit Indestructible. It's produced with John Congleton (St. Vincent, Explosions In The Sky), and sees the pop treasure move towards the leftfield - "Pipe Dreams" itself was written while on a water walk in Kenya.
“It was kind of cool, because I'm super pop – I really gravitate toward pop melodies when I write – but John is really interesting and might rearrange my pop song into more of a punk arrangement, nothing like what I would do," Furtado says to The FADER.
Furtado adds that much of The Ride looks at "the comedown, the hangover after the rush, and how you put the pieces back together, and how you make amends with the realer parts of life."
