Neil Young offers fans free four-month Amazon Music subscriptions after leaving Spotify
After taking his music down from Spotify, Neil Young is offering fans free four-month subscriptions to Amazon Music if they're a "new listener".
Last week Neil Young shared a now-deleted letter on his Neil Young Archives site addressed to his management and record label, requesting that his music should be removed from Spotify "immediately" due to COVID misinformation being spread via The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. He wrote, "They can have [Joe] Rogan or Young. Not both."
Joni Mitchell also decided to "stand" with Neil Young last Friday (28 January) along with Crazy Horse's Nils Lofgren, and following Young's exit from the streaming platform, he's now offering fans a four-month subscription deal for Amazon Music instead.
"All folks looking for my music can easily head to AMAZON MUSIC ... - all new listeners will get four months free," Young wrote.
He continued, "Amazon has been leading the pack in bringing Hi-Res audio to the masses, and it’s a great place to enjoy my entire catalog in the highest quality available. Thanks also to Apple Music (I LOVE APPLE) and Qobuz for sticking with my High Res music."

Since Young's departure from Spotify, the streaming platform's CEO Daniel Ek has said the streaming service is working to add "content advisory" warnings to "any podcast episode that includes a discussion about COVID-19."
Over the weekend Joe Rogan also shared a 10-minute video on Instagram discussing the situation, and said he will "try harder to get people with differing opinions" on his podcast. Rogan also said that he has "no hard feelings" towards Young or Mitchell, and added that he's "a huge Neil Young fan."
