
Neil Young criticises Donald Trump in updated version of "Lookin’ For A Leader"
Neil Young has shared a video performance of an updated version of "Lookin' For A Leader" that takes aim at Donald Trump.
"Lookin' For A Leader" originally featured on Young's 2006 album Living With War.
The original lyrics were directed at George W. Bush, and yesterday (29 July) Young unveiled a new version of the track that features updated lyrics aimed at Trump's administration.
Young sings about the Black Lives Matter movement, Barack Obama, and about how the US needs to vote Donald Trump out, "Yeah, we had Barack Obama / And we really need him now / The man who stood behind him / Has to take his place somehow / America has a leader / Building walls around our house / He don't know Black Lives Matter / And we got to vote him out."
The updated version of "Lookin' For A Leader" arrives just days after Young revealed he was "reconsidering" suing Trump for playing his music at political events. He wrote, "Imagine what it feels like to hear "Rockin’ in the Free World" after this President speaks, like it is his theme song. I did not write it for that."
