Nao and Adekunle Gold share ode to their daughters "Antidote"
Nao is back with her surprise Adekunle Gold collaboration "Antidote", released as an ode to their daughters, both born during the coronavirus pandemic.
After teasing that she might release a new track this week, Nao has released "Antidote", her first collaboration with Nigerian singer/songwriter Adekunle Gold.
"Antidote" marks Nao's first outing of 2021, following last year's Lianne La Havas collaboration "Woman".
Nao wrote of the new single on Instagram, "Here is a gift from us, to give you some positivity going into 2021. We wrote "Antidote" as a musical remedy 4 U during these times and as an ode to our daughters, who were both born weeks apart from each other during the pandemic. They filled us with love. They were our "Antidote" to all that was happening in the world. This song is a summer remedy for your winter days. We hope that our anitdote can be yours too."
Adekunle Gold added, "This song is a perfect description of how I feel about my daughter. Love usually feels like a concept, sometimes invisible, but with her it’s so tangible because she’s right there. I’m so obsessed with her that if she wasn’t around me, I wouldn’t be ok, I guess that’s what antidote is, a cure, a loving cure to the things that ail me."
She's yet to follow up her 2018 album Saturn.
