My Bloody Valentine's new album is like if someone "dropped some acid" on mbv
This new My Bloody Valentine record is sounding more and more interesting with each passing titbit of info that finds its way online.
The latest revelation comes from frontman Kevin Shields, who when speaking to Rolling Stone revealed that "this [album] is like if somebody took that and dropped some acid on it or created a dimensional clash or something. It’s more all over the place."
As well as reiterating that it'll "100%" be released in 2018, Shields said that he didn't want a surprise release this time around: "I want it to be more organized."
The rumours of a new LP began swirling about a new LP in a profile for Shields on the website for Sigur Rós' festival Norður og Niður - it revealed that Shields is "working on material for a new My Bloody Valentine album to be released in 2018." A new shirt has also popped up on My Bloody Valentine's store - not normally big news, but as fans on Reddit note, the band's merch usually follows direct from their releases' artwork, and this new one is titled 'mbv fuzz'. Bandmate Colm Ó Cíosóig recently spoke to radio station WBUR, and when asked about the future of My Bloody Valentine he candidly replied: "It's in the making."
The various members of My Bloody Valentine have kept themselves pretty busy lately - Shields recently joined forces with Brian Eno for a particularly exciting collaboration, while Cíosóig has been playing with Mazzy Star's Hope Sandoval as part of The Warm Inventions. Despite this, they seem to have found time to work on the follow up to 2013's comeback LP mbv.
