Musical inventors Aquaserge get literal in new live video
Always looking to push the envelope, French quintet Aquaserge have released a new live video of the track "Si loin, si proche".
One of the most interesting offerings of the new French-speaking music scene, Aquaserge released Laisse ça être earlier this year - it's a funny, dreamy, and poetic blend of genres that always manages to land on its feet.
"Si loin, si proche" starts with more than two minutes of heady instrumentals before the vocals kick in with a calm tale of dance and love.
Made of two simultaneous single takes, the live video explore the song's lyrics literally ("So far, so close"), cameras swirling between musicians and dancers. Not shy of referencing other artists, the band's make-up and costumes nod to Soviet filmmaker Paradjanov.
