Music Venue Trust share statement to mark reopening of grassroots music venues
Music Venue Trust have shared an encouraging statement to mark the first day that grassroots music venues in England have been able to open in 15 months.
Following the latest lockdown restrictions easing in England today (17 May), meaning venues can now host socially distanced shows indoors for the first time in 15 months, Music Venue Trust have shared a heartfelt statement to mark the occasion.
On top of acknowledging their #SaveOurVenues campaign that contributed to keeping grassroots music venues across the country afloat during the pandemic, Music Venue Trust wrote, "The campaign to Reopen Every Venue Safely now moves on to Revive Live - to get the doors open, get live music back, get people back to work, relight the stages and reignite the UK's live music touring circuit."
Music Venue Trust added, "Today is an important day. It's hopefully the start of the end of the immediate threat to our Grassroots Music Venues and the beginning of their struggle to get back to being at the centre of our communities."
