Mumford & Sons announce new album Wilder Mind
Mumford & Sons have announced the release of their third album, Wilder Mind.
Speaking about the record, which is produced by James Ford, and was partly written in Aaron Dessner (The National)'s Brooklyn studio, the band said:
“Towards the end of the Babel tour, we’d always play new songs during soundchecks, and none of them featured the banjo, or a kick-drum. And demoing with Aaron meant that, when we took a break, we knew it wasn’t going to involve acoustic instruments. We didn’t say: ‘No acoustic instruments.’ But I think all of us had this desire to shake it up. The songwriting hasn’t changed drastically; it was led more by a desire to not do the same thing again. Plus, we fell back in love with drums! It’s as simple as that.”
Wilder Mind is due out 4 May through Gentlemen of the Road/Island Records. The lead single, "Believe", will arrive on 27 April.
The band have also detailed their 2015 Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers, including one in Aviemore, Scotland, which takes place 31 July-1 August, and sees Mumford & Sons share the bill with Ben Howard, Primal Scream, The Maccabees, Simian Mobile Disco DJs, Lianne La Havas, Jack Garratt, King Charles, Honeyblood and more.
They will also play a series of the events in America, with the likes of The Vaccines, The Flaming Lips and The Foo Fighters in tow.
