Morrissey to be the subject of unauthorised biopic film called "Steven"
You can say what you like about Morrissey (and many people do), but what you cannot claim is that the former Smiths frontman hasn’t lived a fruitful life. He’s played in one of the most influential bands of the past three decades, been wrapped up in many legal tangles, encountered much love and loathing in equal measure and has basically lived everywhere around the Western world at some point. Now, he’s set to be the subject of a new biopic too.
Steven (named as such on account of it being his prenom) will be directed by Mark Gill and produced by Orian Williams (who also worked on Ian Curtis flick Control). It’ll focus specifically on Moz’s pre-Smiths years.
“Growing up in bleak Manchester, England, and his triumph over an alienated childhood to become the cult star he is today” is the synposis offered by the Hollywood Reporter.
Of course, it has not been fully sanctioned by the man himself so we can’t wait to hear what he has to say about it.
Meanwhile, Morrissey’s upcoming solo record World Peace Is None of Your Business is out in July.
