Morrissey sets 2012 date for autobiography, expect controversy a-plenty
Singer, songwriter, animal-lover and general misanthrope Morrissey has announced that his hotly-anticipated autobiography is finished and on its way, due to be published December next year.
The former Smiths front man has taglined the book as the “sentimental climax to the last 30 years” of his eventful life and controversial career.
But those expecting a malicious and unrelenting onslaught from a man capable of penning such lines as “Ask me why and I’ll spit in your eye” and “I’d like to drop my trousers to the Queen, every sensible child will know what this means” may be bitterly disappointed. “The innocent are named and the guilty are protected”, the 52 year-old singer known for his varying wandering between mystery, secrecy and controversy recently told Billboard.
The artist who recently stated that his upcoming album may have to be self-released, vouching that all major record labels now see him as a poisoned chalice. It’s hard to imagine there being a shortage of suitors hoping to publish his memoirs.
It’s hard to believe Morrissey when he claims the book will be free of embroilment, seeing as the musician has caused no shortage of headlines just in the past month: for searching fans for possession of meat before entry into his headline gig, for cancelling the Swedish leg of his European tour because of rain, and for nicknaming Madonna ‘McDonna’ and calling Michael Bublé simply “famous and meaningless”.
What a charming man.
