Morrissey is gonna stop saying stupid shit in interviews by never doing interviews again
Morrissey, seemingly pissed off with The Media printing things he says, has decided to stop giving interviews.
After a torrid year of saying truly ridiculous things - yesterday's doubling down on sexual harassment comments is the most recent example, and one of the most egregious.
This is far from the first time that Morrissey has found himself at the centre of controversy - as well as seemingly defending Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey, just last month he appeared to voice support for UKIP leadership candidate Anne Marie Waters. As well as that, just this year he's made a ridiculous statement about the Manchester terrorist attack and drawn criticism for attempting to sell an offensive piece of merch featuring civil rights activist and author James Baldwin.
And, now, in a bid to stifle these torrents of controversy, the former Smiths frontman has decided to take aim at the real problem (and this year's bogeyman) The Media. Does this mean Morrissey will start popping up on Infowars?
At a show in Chicago, Morrissey addressed the crowd: "I did an interview a couple of weeks ago for a German newspaper and, of course, let me just say this: that was the last print interview I will ever do... unless you see the words form in my mouth and then you see or hear the words come out of my mouth… please, if you don’t see that, I didn’t say them."
Fortunately there's actually footage of this, so we know it did actually happen:
