More than 85,000 UK nightlife sector jobs lost due to COVID
The Night Time Industries Association (NTIA) has published a new report that reveals over 85,000 jobs have been lost in the UK nightlife sector due to COVID.
The new report, commissioned by the NTIA, confirms that the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in 86,000 jobs being lost in the cultural night time sector since 2019.
CEO of the Night Time Industries Association Michael Kill said that the report proves that "it is the worst possible time to introduce vaccine passports, which will further damage a sector essential to the economic recovery."
In the foreword, co-chair of the APPG for the Night Time Economy, Conservative MP Christian Wakeford warned to "not leave this vital sector behind" following the "devastation of the pandemic".
The NTIA CEO also urged Chancellor Rishi Sunak to "use the upcoming Budget to support this beleaguered sector".
