Mondo Cozmo to release debut album Plastic Soul
Philadelphia-born artist Mondo Cozmo has announced debut record Plastic Soul - and it's out next month.
The album came after a pilgrimage to Joshua Tree in the Californian desert - the singer/songwriter brought his dog, a guitar, and "a shitty 10-year-old laptop" to a "weird house" and spent two intense weeks drawing the record out from his system. The results are indefinable, blurring classic pop, rock 'n' roll, epic Arcade Fire-y sprawls, '80s stadium sounds, and hacked-up samples into one heady brew.
Cozmo's shared lots of sounds from the LP already, including "Shine", "Hold On To Me", "Plastic Soul" (previously only available via email), and "Higher" - January's belter "Sixes and Sevens" didn't make the cut, but there's still lots to look forward to.
Plastic Soul is coming out on a record label (Island, to be precise) despite pal Chris Pratt - husband of fellow pal Anna Faris who stars in the video above - advising him "not to sign a record deal".
