
Mogwai and Joesef among artists on SAY Award 2021 shortlist
The shortlist for this year's Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) Award has been revealed, featuring 10 albums from Mogwai, Joesef and more.
Following last month's longlist, 20 Scottish albums have been narrowed down to a shortlist of just 10 records released during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The winner of this year’s Public Vote was Stanley Odd - ‘STAY ODD’, with the remaining nine albums chosen by the esteemed judging panel. 2021’s panel includes the likes of Ian Rankin (Author), Jackie Kay (Poet), Daniel Portman (Actor) and Ashley Storrie (Comedian), as well as Tim Burgess (Musician, The Charlatans)
Mogwai, Joesef, Biffy Clyro, Arab Strap, The Ninth Wave, Rachel Newton and Lizzie Reid are among the artists that have made the 2021 shortlist, and as well as revealing the shortlist today (7 October), the winner of the inaugural Modern Scottish Classic Award has been awarded to Frightened Rabbit for their The Midnight Organ Fight album that turned 10 in 2019.

- The Ninth Wave – Happy Days!
- The Snuts – W.L.
Nine albums on the shortlist were chosen by a panel consisting of Tim Burgess, Ian Rankin (author), Jackie Kay (poet), Daniel Portman (actor) and Ashley Storrie (comedian), while the 10th album was chosen by a public vote, which was Stanley Odd's STAY ODD.
