Mitski unveils foreboding new track "Cop Car"
Mitski has shared her first single of the year, "Cop Car", which will feature on the upcoming soundtrack for new film The Turning.
"Cop Car" is the sixth track to be lifted from the soundtrack, after Empress Of's "Call Me", The Aubreys' "Getting Better (Otherwise)" with Finn Wolfhard, Pale Waves and Lawrence Rothman's "SkinDeepSkyHighHeartWide", Soccer Mommy's "Feed", and Courtney Love's "Mother".
Speaking about working with Mitski, soundtrack producer Lawrence Rothman says, "There is a pinnacle scene where Kate’s mind starts to unravel while in her car and we needed a cinematic but grunge influenced song shadowing the scene. I reached out to Mitski to see if she wanted to get involved as Floria and I had a feeling she would deliver a song that was guitar-based but cinematic."Cop Car" went beyond what we imagined and we were ecstatic when she sent it to us!"
"Cop Car" is Mitski's first new single since releasing her Be The Cowboy album in 2018.
The soundtrack will also feature new tracks by Warpaint, Vagabon, Cherry Glazerr, Kali Uchis, Alice Glass, girl in red, Kim Gordon, and more.
