Minus The Bear announce split and final EP
The Seattle indie band Minus The Bear have announced their split after 17 years after their debut EP, This Is What I Know About Being Gigantic.
Minus The Bear have decided to call it a day after 17 years, detailing in a statement uploaded to social media that they will also embark on a final tour with the release of their final EP.
Addressing their fans, they recall the beginning of their career, stating, "What started as a silly inside joke in the dingy confines of Seattle's original Cha Cha Lounge back in 2001 quickly snowballed into years of adventures, creativity, and friendship."

Their time as a band comes to a close after six studio albums, but there's still room for four more new tracks on their forthcoming final Fair Enough EP, of which today saw the band share the title-track.
Despite not giving a plain-sighted reason for their break up, Minus The Bear spoke to Stereogum about the toll of being in a band that has run for nearly two decades.
Lead vocalist and guitarist Jake Snider explained, " We want to keep the band’s legacy intact and go out while we’re still doing well. There’s a bunch of reasons — wanting to try something new creatively, possibly. It’s difficult to be in a band with so many different attitudes and ways of thinking over 17 years."
"Touring at 27 and touring at 42 is a totally different ball game. There’s so much stress on you. It’s hard to leave your family behind for weeks at a time — your wife with the kids."
