Miley Cyrus wants to talk to DaBaby and see how they can "learn from each other"
Miley Cyrus has reached out to DaBaby following backlash over his homophobic comments at Rolling Loud, saying she wants to see how they can "learn from each other".
DaBaby said some homophobic comments while addressing the crowd during his Rolling Loud Miami performance last month, telling attendees without HIV or AIDS to "put your cellphone light up."
Over the past week the rapper has been dropped from the line-ups of Lollapalooza, Governors Ball, Day N Vegas, iHeartRadio Music Festival, Music Midtown and Austin City Limits, and it was recently reported that he lost out on his Lollapalooza slot after not delivering a video apology in time.
Yesterday (4 August) on Instagram, Miley Cyrus uploaded a statement about cancel culture, and directed the caption at DaBaby, writing, "DaBaby check your DMS - would love to talk and see how we can learn from each other and help be part of making a more just and understanding future."
In the post, Cyrus wrote, "As a proud and loyal member of the LGBTQIA+ community, much of my life has been dedicated to encouraging love, acceptance, and open mindedness."
Cyrus also wrote that while the internet is the "nucleus of cancel culture", she believes that it can "also be a place filled with education, conversation, communication & connection."
"It's easier to cancel someone than to find forgiveness and compassion in ourselves or take the time to change hearts and minds," Cyrus added. "There's no more room for division if we want to keep seeing progress! Knowledge is power! I know I still have so much to learn!"
