Mike Watt's Il Sogno del Marinaio announces album and tour
Iconic punk bassist Mike Watt (of Minutemen, fIREHOSE, the reunited Stooges and plenty more) has announced that his current project Il Sogno del Marinaio (“The Sailor’s Dream) will release an album this August as well as dates for an extensive US tour this fall.
Watt started Il Sogno del Marinaio with Italian musicians Stefano Pilia and Andrea Belfi back in 2009, and they recorded their new album Canto Secondo across 8 days back in December. Almost immediately following, Watt recorded Tamatebako as Cuz alongside The Go! Team’s Sam Dook. The album was intended for Record Store Day but vinyl pressing issues delayed its release, the band shared the record for streaming earlier this month. Well, Watt never was one for settling down long (hence this two-month, 52-date US tour).
Canto Secondo is out 26 August via Watt’s Clenchedwrench label. Check out the full list of tour dates below.
