Miguel has unveiled a new surprise three-track EP
R&B crooner Miguel surprise released a new three-track EP today. A bid to outdo D'Angelo perhaps?
Regardless, the trio of tracks are pretty splendid: "nwa", featuring Kurupt, is a gurgling guitar-led slowburn, with falsetto charm and wobbling bass. "hollywooddreams" is pretty epic, with rock axe licks and a resounding pop chorus. "coffee" is equally big, smacking of his recent collaboration work with Jessie Ware, albeit somewhat rougher - it also ceases rather sharply.
Miguel last released a record in 2012; Kaleidoscope Dream drew huge praise from many outlets, and it's assumed he is currently working on the follow-up. In the months preceding Kaleidoscope Dream he released a string of EPs called Art Dealer Chic.
