Michael Kiwanuka reworks Brittany Howard's "13th Century Metal"
Michael Kiwanuka has shared his debut remix, a reworking of Brittany Howard's Jaime album track "13th Century Metal".
"13th Century Metal" was released by Howard in September 2019 just days before her debut solo album Jaime.
Today (8 December), 2020 Mercury Prize winner Michael Kiwanuka has shared his debut remix, which is a reworking of Howard's "13th Century Metal".
Kiwanuka says of the remix, "I was so excited to get to work on this project as I’ve always been a big fan of Brittany’s music. Knowing this particular track and being such a fan of her voice, I wanted to not meddle with her voice, and then to make it front and center. She sounds so victorious when she sings and speaks, so the music I made was governed by that."
Jaime has been nominated for Best Alternative Music Album at the 2021 Grammys, while Kiwanuka's Kiwanuka album has been nominated for Best Rock Album.
