Michael Eavis admits he's uncertain that Glastonbury will return in 2021
Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis has admitted he's uncertain that the festival will return next year.
The 50th anniversary celebrations of the iconic Glastonbury Festival were due to take place this year before coronavirus forced organisers to postpone their anniversary celebrations until 2021. With 2021 approaching, Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis has explained that he's not completely certain that it'll return next year.
In an interview with ITV News last night (3 August), Eavis said he is trying to "move heaven and earth" to make sure the festival goes ahead next year, but also explained it "doesn't necessarily mean it will happen, that is just wishful thinking."
When asked if he's worries about the long term future of the festival, Eavis replied, "No I do not worry at all, I am so confident that it will survive."
He added, "The only certainty I think is the year after, 2022. To be perfectly candid, so we might have to wait for two years maybe. But I am still hoping and we are fighting and working at it all the time to make sure it happens next year."
