MF DOOM augmented reality NFT masks go up for auction
A series of signed MF DOOM augmented reality masks are being auctioned off in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
The auction is a joint venture between Rhymesayers Entertainment and DOOM's widow Jasmine Dumile, and the virtual masks are being sold as NFTs via digital marketplace Illust Space.
10% of the proceeds from the AR MF DOOM masks will go back to DOOM's estate as royalties to fund any future projects.
The mask NFT auction launched yesterday (11 March), and will close later today (12 March) at 10pm PST / 6am GMT (13 March). The AR masks up for auction include a Black Sludge mask, multiple Green Metal masks and a Mummy MF DOOM mask. The virtual masks are expected to go for prices between $15,000 and $75,000.

As Hypebeast notes, NFTs are the latest trend for creatives. Just last week Grimes auctioned off her digital artwork collection WarNymph Collection Vol. 1 as NFTs, which sold for an equivalent of $6 million, and yesterday (11 March) Kelsey Lu announced her first NFT audio-visual release "Ride or Die" with Boys Noize, and Pussy Riot announced their "PANIC ATTACK" NFT drop for this weekend, which will see a portion of the NFT sales going towards a shelter for victims of domestic violence in Russia.
Each NFT has a digital contract that determines the rights to each digital collectible, allowing buyers to sell, purchase and trade items.
