Metz's Alex Edkins launches new Weird Nightmare project with debut single "Searching for You"
Metz's Alex Edkins has released new single "Searching for You" as Weird Nightmare, and it arrives with news of his self-titled debut album.
"Searching for You" is the opening track from Wierd Nightmare's debut album, and lands with a Ryan Thompson-directed video.
Edkins says of the track, "It’s a fun, no nonsense rock ‘n’ roll song. It’s about searching for meaning and inspiration all around us. In my mind, the ‘you’ in the chorus refers to something bigger than companionship or love, it’s that intangible thing we all look for but never find."
Much of the Weird Nightmare album was recorded during the pandemic, but some of the original demos of the tracks date back to 2013.
Edkins explains, "I had always planned on finishing these songs, but being unable to tour with METZ, and forced to lock down, really gave me a push. It was a godsend for me. The hours would disappear and I would get lost in the music and record. It was a beautiful escape."
He adds, "I’ve found a new confidence in my writing and producing. I really enjoy creating and recording, and I wanted this record to reflect how much fun I was having."
The Weird Nightmare album will feature contributions from Chad VanGaalen and Bully's Alicia Bognanno.
