Metronomy release surprise EP featuring Biig Piig, Sorry and more
Metronomy have unveiled a surprise collaborative EP titled Posse EP Volume 1, which features appearances from Biig Piig, Sorry and more.
After hinting at new music earlier this week by reminding fans that "there’s normally a Metronomy album every two to three years", Metronomy have released Posse EP Volume 1, a five-track EP of collaborations.
The EP features collaborations with Pinty, Biig Piig, Spill Tab, Sorry, Brian Nasty and Folly Group.
On Twitter, founder Joe Mount wrote, "I made the e.p after finishing the new Metronomy album (!), please consume it in the same spirit it was made; discover some new artists and share the music with your friends."
Speaking about "405", Biig Piig said, "Joe sent over the piano instrumental and it was so beautiful and brought back so many memories. I feel like when you hear a piece of music that does that, you know it’s special. My melodies and lyrics over it came out really easily and it just felt really nostalgic. The song is about a moment of realising the love that I was seeking frantically in all kinds of places I had right in front of me the whole time."
Mount said of the EP, "I thought it would be weird saying, ‘some of these are people I hadn’t previously heard of’, but actually it’s such an amazing way to encounter people and get to know them. Receiving back a song from someone you’ve never met before, but they’ve clicked with what you’ve done and done something amazing with it."
