Listen to "Mercury", the bewitching new track from experimental project Planetarium
The second single from Planetarium, the new project from Sufjan Stevens, Nico Muhly, James McAlister, and The National’s Bryce Dessner, has arrived.
"Mercury" follows the superb lead cut "Saturn" and sees the vaunted names congeal for an expansive trek through textures and dynamics.
The full project is described as "part rock odyssey, part electronic experiment, part classical opus... [which] revolves around the cosmic ideas Stevens’ lyrics explore: mythology, astrology, science, astronomy and the intricacies of human consciousness."
Stevens, Muhly, McAlister, and Dessner will unite on 10 July at the Philharmonie de Paris with strings and brass for a full performance of the project. Find out more.
