Megan Thee Stallion wrote her Tory Lanez diss track "Shots Fired" the day after alleged shooting
Megan Thee Stallion has revealed that she actually penned her Tory Lanez diss "Shots Fired" the day after the alleged shooting incident that happened in July.
Last Friday (20 November) Megan Thee Stallion dropped her highly-anticipated debut album Good News.
In a new interview with Hot 97, the Houston rapper discussed her Best New Artist Grammy nomination from earlier this week, and also shared some information about her Tory Lanez diss track "Shots Fired".
When speaking to Hot 97 Megan Thee Stallion revealed that despite writing the song the day after the alleged shooting incident, she wanted to wait to release it with her album. She said (around the 26-minute mark), "When you know you’re right and you know you have nothing to prove, you really don’t have to give a response. But once you made it rap beef, you put it on wax, now I gotta say something."
Megan Thee Stallion continued, "I really had the song all ready but I was like, 'You know what, let me just save it for the album'. Because it was ready to go the next day. I was like, you know what, let’s be calm. Let’s be patient. Let’s see how this plays out and let me just wait and put it on my album."
Earlier this month Tory Lanez pleaded not guilty to charges relating to the alleged shooting of Megan Thee Stallion back in July. Lanez is due back in court on 20 January 2021 and could face a maximum sentence of 22 years and eight months in a state prison if he's convicted.
