Max Bloom announces new solo album with title-track "Pedestrian"
Max Bloom, the former frontman of Yuck, has announced his second solo album Pedestrian, and has shared the title-track as the first taster of the record.
"Pedestrian" is Bloom's first solo outing of 2021, following last year's debut album Perfume, and arrives after Yuck announced in February (on the 10th anniversary of their self-titled debut album) that they will no longer tour or make music together.
Speaking about the single and album title, Bloom says, "I was contemplating a lot of things when I was trying to come up with the lyrical themes. I listened to this instrumental a lot when I was out running, and I remember seeing the word ‘Pedestrian’ on a road sign. It made me contemplate what a pedestrian is, and what the word represents. As pedestrians, we’re all trapped in our own individual worlds but when something cataclysmic happens, we’re all brought together. I think about death a lot, and I think about what humans are and whether we are the only intelligent life in the universe. So I guess this song explores both of those feelings at the same time."
Pedestrian was recorded at Bloom's home studio in Hackney, and features drums/percussion from Adam Gammage (Charli XCX, Baxter Dury).
Bloom also wrote nearly all the tracks on the album, aside from "All The Same" and "Under Green Skies" which were co-written with Anna Vincent.
The upcoming album will be the first release on Bloom's new label Ultimate Blends, which will be a home for his future projects and productions.
