Mavi Phoenix shares punchy new single "Trends"
Austria's pumped-up rapper/singer/producer Mavi Phoenix is back with the infectious "Trends".
Having just performed at Denmark's Roskilde Festival, Mavi Phoenix is straight back onto pushing out new material as she arrives with "Trends".
The contagiously warped melody is another euphoric snapshot into the punchy-pop sound of Mavi Phoenix.
Speaking about her new track, Mavi Phoenix explains, "’Trends’ was the first song I wrote shortly after the ‘Young Prophet’ EP release - describing my mental status at that time, feeling super empowered by having my team and my own label LLT Records. I wanted to break out and do my own kind of punk song.”
The visuals embrace the light melody as it creates a parody of a 90s interview show where she performs to camera on a beach. Mavi Phoenix says, "We had studio time in South Africa and discovered this insanely white, desolated and super windy beach in Cape Town. I started playing Trends very loud through a boombox - it was kind of a magic moment - that's where we recorded the video then, during sunset."
