Mattiel announce third album with first single "Jeff Goldblum"
Atlanta duo Mattiel are back with news of their upcoming third album Georgia Gothic, and have unveiled new single "Jeff Goldblum" as the first outing from the record.
"Jeff Goldblum" follows Mattiel's April release "Those Words", and is the duo's first taster of their upcoming third album titled Georgia Gothic.
Speaking about the new release, Mattiel said, "Well, my crush on Jeff Goldblum is very real. He inspired the words - but this is more of a dream where a Jeff look-a-like meets me in a bathroom. Nothing beats an 80’s Jeff Goldblum. Incredible looks and charm. If anything, I hope if he somehow hears the song, he loves it as much as we do."
Georgia Gothic will follow the duo's 2019 second album Satis Factory, and came together in a woodland cabin. Jonah Swilley says of the process, "This was the first time we made a point to just be together and work out ideas in the same room. That was the initial intention ... it was about learning what each other wanted to accomplish on a sonic level, and then just trying different things out. Everything happened backwards. Normally, you’d have friends that make a band ... with us, we started making music from the jump, and then became homies."
Swilley produced their new album, which was mixed by John Congleton (Angel Olsen, Earl Sweatshirt, Erykah Badu, Sleater Kinney).
