Masayoshi Fujita signs to Erased Tapes
Berlin-based, Japan-born vibraphone player Masayoshi Fujuita has inked a deal with Erased Tapes (Nils Frahm, Kiasmos, Douglas Dare).
Fujita has also announced a new record called Apologues, and shared its lead single "Tears Of Unicorn". Although he plays the vibraphone, for the most part, Fujita is an ardent experimenter, preparing the instrument with various found objects - like foil and pieces of metal - to warp the sound into new shapes.
Speaking about the new album and record deal, Fujita said:
“With this album the main idea was to evoke images, atmospheres, sceneries and stories in the listener, the images that have accumulated in myself. At the same time it was an exploration of the unexplored beauty of the vibraphone, and also a pursuit of the charm of the instrumentation and the music itself. Erased Tapes releases a lot of great stuff and naturally became my favourite label of late. And I thought it would fit well to my music.”
Apologues will be released by Erased Tapes on 11 September.
