Mary J. Blige will star in Power spin-off series
Power executive producers confirm Mary J. Blige will star in first spin-off series.
According to Deadline, during a Starz TCA panel, Power executive producers Courtney Kemp and 50 Cent revealed that Mary J. Blige is set to play the lead role in the new spin-off series for Power.
The hit series is returning for a final season later this year, and will be split into two parts, with the last five episodes landing next year.
Announcing news of the first spin-off show, Courtney Kemp revealed, "Today we are pleased to announce that we are in pre-production on the first of what we know will be a collection of series inspired by the dynamic world of Power. Power Book II: Ghost will continue the journey of some of Power’s most controversial characters."
Mary J. Blige made a surprise appearance at the panel talk, and said, "This is probably going to be the most exiting thing that will happen to me this year."
She added, "I’ve known so many Tashas, I’ve known so many Ghosts. I’ve dated so many Ghosts. I’m a huge fan for life, and I’m so grateful to be a part of it."
50 Cent revealed that he told Blige, "this will be the biggest thing ever, if you do it."
