Manic Street Preachers hint that a new album is imminent
Have the Manic Street Preachers finished recording their next album, what will be their eleventh studio effort to date? Seems that way, according to a tweet from the Welsh band’s bassist Nicky Wire.
Back in May, singer James Dean Bradfield told reporters that they had been working on two records forthcoming, having “virtually finished the first”, which is said to be “acoustic” with a “soul vibe”.
It’s this album that Nick Wire seems to be hinting at when, as Gigwise note, he tweeted earlier this week: ”Misty+rainy morning in auckland-love it!-my copy of REWIND THE FILM-somehow sounds even better here-so atmospheric x”
Rumours that the new album, going by the name Rewind The Film, is imminent only intensified when the band decided to change their Twitter name from @manicspostcard (alluding to their previous album) to the shortened @manics.
The Manics have recently been playing a series of shows in Australia and New Zealand to coincide with the British Lions rugby tour of the countries.
