Måneskin unveil punchy new track "MAMMAMIA"
2021 Eurovision winners Måneskin have unveiled their punchy new single "MAMMAMIA".
Following the release of their updated version of I Wanna Be Your Slave" with Iggy Pop in August, Måneskin have returned with a fiery new track titled "MAMMAMIA".
During a press conference at Berlin's SO36 Club, Måneskin frontman Damiano David revealed the new single was written after winning this year's Eurovision Song Contest, "We only had a few days to go to the studio and write new music, but fortunately this song came out in a few hours – that’s why we felt like it was going to be a banger for us."
In the song's second verse, David mentions that he's "not taking drugs", a reference to the assumptions that were made during the Eurovision final after a clip went viral of him leaning over a table on camera. An inquiry by organisers concluded in May that the band didn't take drugs after David returned a negative drug test result.
Since being crowned the winners of this year's Eurovision Song Contest in May, Italy's Måneskin have been staying busy releasing music and gaining some famous fans including Miley Cyrus and Iggy Pop.
The track marks the Italian rockers' first new material since releasing their Teatro d’ira: Vol. I album in March.
