Manchester International Festival announces Björk, Damon Albarn and FKA Twigs
The biennial Manchester International Festival has unveiled its 2015 programme, which will include performances from Björk, a musical by Damon Albarn, and a film project by FKA Twigs.
Albarn has written music for a new, modern retelling of Alice In Wonderland (titled wonder.land) - more information can be found here - which will be debuted at the MIF.
Icelandic legend Björk will be performing a one-off show Castlefield Arena, her first European performance since the release of Vulnicura.
Nico Muhly and Anthony Hegarty will also be in attendance, having scored the Caryl Churchill play The Skriker, starring Maxine Peake.
FKA Twigs is set to host a week-long residency of ther former Granada Studios, where small groups can watch her create seven short films.
The festival will also be hosting a ballet; Tree of Codes is directed/choreographed by Wayne McGregor, with a score from Jamie xx.
Manchester International Festival takes place during summer, from 2-19 July.
