Mammút unveil "disgusting and weird" video for "Blood Burst"
Icelandic quintet Mammút have unleashed a new video for "Blood Burst" taken from recent EP River's End.
The video, directed by Sunneva Asa Weisshappel, is described as both "playful, beautiful and colourful" yet "disgusting and weird" and forms the perfect cinematic companion to Mammút's sexually-charged guitar pop. Weisshappel explains:
"The video visualizes the lyrics content and tries to capture the emotions contained in the song. My interpretation of the songs subject is the animalistic nature of man. What we hide, what we cover and a spectacle that is a combination of poetry, illusions and contrasts.”
Mammút described the video more literally:
"We were placed in an inflatable jacuzzi to play in sheep's blood, so we did."
The band, who are previous winners of both Best Album and Best Song at the Icelandic Music Awards, play a special show in London (Sebright Arms, 2 September) before performing at End of The Road Festival.
River's End is available now via Bella Union.
