Mahalia teams up with Little Simz for soulful new cut "Proud of Me"
Mahalia's been busy, busy, busy since releasing "Sober" just last year. Now she's teaming up with rap powerhouse Little Simz on the soulful, choral-led "Proud of Me".
"Proud of Me" is the culmination of years of work from the Birmingham-based singer, who wrote her first song at the age of eight. "I've never been religious," the Birmingham-based singer opens over the track's swell of gospel-infused backing vocals, "instead my mama showered me in kisses."
"Proud of Me" is an honest, open-hearted cut about the aims of her music career: making something of herself that her family can be proud of. There's some "extra magic" from dream collaborator Little Simz in the final minute, but the 19-year-old is certainly taking the time to win us over on her own terms.
