M.I.A. launches Patreon account to connect with fans through exclusive content
M.I.A. has announced that she's created a Patreon account to connect with fans through exclusive videos, music, and more.
Earlier this week, M.I.A. teased the launch of her new Patreon account by posting on socials, "NEW DECADE NEW MIA EXPLORING PLANETS AND PLATFORMS JOIN ME JAN 31ST 2020."
Today (31 January), the singer/rapper/activist has expanded on her decision to create a Patreon account.

M.I.A. said in a press release, "I’m doing a Patreon, because I make so much stuff and record so many things that aren’t music and don’t fit on other platforms. I’ve tried all the other platforms and it’s like: this one is too mean and hateful, this one is too fake and self-obsessed, and this one just sells all your data to Cambridge Analytica…Hopefully, this one is going to be just right."
At the moment, her account includes exclusive footage from the studio, and she promises to do livestreams, Q&A's, and share new music in the future.
On her Patreon page, M.I.A. writes, "I’m doing a Patreon, because I make so much stuff and record so many things that aren’t music and don’t fit on other platforms. I'm still making music, putting out the 6th album which is nearly finished, on a normal label, same as the others."
