Not wholly happy on just a new album coming out, M.I.A has taken time to design a new clothing line for fashion house Versace.
Versace really have been bigged up by the music industry lately, with this new range hitting store on 16 October. The theme of the collection is “counterfeits”, as in Versace copying their own copies.
“The theme of counterfeits, of those that produce and sell them has always been part of the culture of M.I.A.,” the musician said of the designs. “When I was contacted by Versace, it seemed a great idea to invert the circle. Versace’s designs have always been copied, now it’s Versace that copies the copies, so those that copy must copy the copies. So this will continue.”
